Nationwide Tour Graduate Q&A: Marc Turnesa Nationwide Tour Graduate Q&A archive Editor's Note: Mark Turnesa finished 16th on the Nationwide Tour money list. Turnesa won the Miccosukee Championship, the final full-field event of the season, to secure his place in "THE 25" and his spot on the 2008 PGA TOUR. Turnesa took control of the weather-plagued tournament on Saturday morning when he completed a stellar 8-under-par 63 to move to a four-shot lead at the halfway point. Sunday's third and fourth round presented worthy challengers in Albertsons Boise Open winner Jon Mills (70) and hard-charging David Mathis (64), but Turnesa played the 36 holes in 3-under (69-70) to finish at 15-under 269 and one shot in front of the duo. Turnesa sat down recently with PGATOUR.com's Dave Lagarde for a game of 10 questions. ![]() Mark Turnesa (WireImage)
1. If the PGA TOUR allows music on the first tee what song will be used to introduce you? Turnesa: The Unforgiven by Metallica.. 2. What was your most embarrassing moment on a golf course? Turnesa: Probably losing a two-shot lead on the 72nd hole of a Gateway Tour tournament. 3. You have the power to alter any rule in the game of golf. What is it and why do you want to change it? Turnesa: I'd like to make divots in the fairway ground under repair and be able to tap down spike marks. You learn pretty quickly out here who wears spikes. 4. Who would you most like to hit balls next to next year, and why? Turnesa: Carl Pettersson. We roomed together in college at North Carolina State. That would be fun. 5. Do you have any oddball superstitions? If not, what's the strangest one you've heard of? Turnesa: No. Well, maybe a few little things like I mark my ball with the coin heads up and play with (ball numbers) eights on Thursday, sevens on Friday, sixes on Saturday and fives on Sunday. 6. When your putt rolls in to win your first PGA TOUR title, will you go with the Tiger fist pump, the Mickelson mini-vertical jump or something a little crazier? Turnesa: No way to the leap. It'll probably be a little fist pump, nothing too drastic. 7. Other than winning a tournament, what would make next year a success? Turnesa: Keeping my card. 8. You've been granted a 60-minute sit-down with any figure in the world of golf, living or dead. What's your first question and to whom would you address it? Turnesa: Tiger Woods. How do you putt under pressure when you seem to never miss an important one. 9. What is your wildest golf dream? Turnesa: Winning a major. That's all I dream about. 10. What is the most valuable lesson about your profession you learned on the Nationwide Tour? Turnesa: Patience is the first and how the accept good rounds and bad rounds. There is always next week.. |
