THE PLAYERS Charity

Dec. 14, 2007

THE PLAYERS Championship annually combines the best field in golf with the world-class venue that is THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass. THE PLAYERS contributes to a diverse group of charities throughout Northeast Florida, living by the PGA TOUR's mission to give back to the communities in which it plays. Since 1977, when THE PLAYERS moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., more than $28 million has been contributed to Northeast Florida charities, ranging from health care to youth and education to human services.

The 2007 PLAYERS tournament raised $2.8 million dollars for local charitable organizations. This effort continues to prove that golf is the official sport of giving back. JELDWEN, UBS and PricewaterhouseCoopers are the exclusive Proud Partners of THE PLAYERS.

In every community where its tournaments are played, the PGA TOUR leaves a legacy of giving back through charitable contributions to local non-profit organizations. Since 1938, the PGA TOUR and its tournaments have contributed more than $1.1 billion to charity, having reached its initial Drive To A Billion milestone in 2005.

In less than 10 years, the TOUR expects to reach the second billion-dollar mark. Each year, PGA TOUR, Champions Tour and Nationwide Tour events benefit more than 2,000 charities, touching countless lives worldwide.

"Thanks to the incredible generosity of the tournaments, players, fans, volunteers and business partners who support the PGA TOUR, our goal of giving back continues to be our main focus," PGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem said."We are inspired by the continued enthusiasm for giving that ensures more and more assistance for those in need around the world."
