The Tom Coughlin Jay Fund supports hundreds of families on the First Coast as they focus on healing their children of critical illnesses. Children participated in a putt-putt PLAYERS Championship held in the 8th floor children's waiting room, a room renovated and decorated by The Tom Coughlin Jay Fund with the support of THE PLAYERS. Click here for the full story. ![]() Junior Achievement, "A Game Plan to Achieve!" Fred Funk, winner of the 2005 PLAYERS Championship, led a 5th-grade class at Pine Forest Elementary School as part of Junior Achievement, which teaches young people to value free enterprise, business and economics to improve the quality of their lives while encouraging them to stay in school by making learning relevant. Funk participated in a morning assembly in front of the school before teaching his class from the Junior Achievement lesson plan, while members of Funk's Punks, Funk's local fan club, and tournament chairmen from THE PLAYERS also taught classes at Pine Forest. Funk also presented students at Pine Forest with much-needed supplies not covered in the school's annual budget. ![]() "Driven to Succeed" PGA TOUR professional Jim Furyk teamed up with The MaliVai Washington Kids Foundation and The Boselli Foundation for an event to highlight the efforts of both foundations and their founders in assisting underserved, economically challenged children in the Jacksonville area. Selected children from The MaliVai Washington Kids Foundation and The Boselli Foundation participated in tennis, golf, homework, tutoring and round-table discussions with Jim and Tabitha Furyk, Mal and Jennifer Washington and Tony and Angi Boselli. The event culminated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new driving range made possible through money raised by THE PLAYERS in 2007. The St. Vincent's HealthCare's Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, another program supported by THE PLAYERS, was on site to provide free health screenings to children. ![]() "Pink Links - Playing Through Breast Cancer" TOUR Academy TPC Sawgrass, through support from THE PLAYERS Championship and in conjunction with Baptist Health, is introducing "Pink Links," a class which promotes the healing process for breast cancer survivors through the game of golf. World Golf Hall of Fame Member Judy Rankin, PGA TOUR player Len Mattiace and TOUR Academy instructors assisted the inaugural class, which is part of the Link-Up-2-Golf program, with a special clinic and reception. Click here for the full story. ![]() The First Tee, "A Cornerstone of the Community" Former PLAYERS Championship winner Calvin Peete, along with representatives from UBS, one of three PLAYERS Proud Partners, held a financial education class and golf tournament for members of The First Tee of Jacksonville and their parents. THE PLAYERS is a proud supporter of The First Tee and believes partnering with UBS will help 65-80 families understand the importance of saving and investing in order to build a brighter future. During the tournament, participants won prizes for correctly answering questions related to the morning's classes. Calvin Peete also participated in the golf tournament. |
