Aaron Baddeley has needed only 52 putts the first two days to jump to top of the leaderboard. The 2007 FBR Open champion has posted rounds of 67-66--133 and is 9 under par for 36 holes. The only time Baddeley has held/shared a 36-hole lead in his PGA TOUR career came at the 2003 Sony Open in Hawaii, where he shared the lead at 10 under with Retief Goosen. Baddeley went to finish second that week, losing a playoff to Ernie Els. Baddeley is No. 21 in the current FedExCup points standings.

• The group of Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh made a nice turnaround Saturday. The trio posted a collective score of 3 over par during Friday's opening round -- Mickelson (-1), Woods (+1), Singh (+3) -- but shot a collective 19 under par Saturday. Woods and Mickelson both carded 7-under-par 64s, while Singh shot a 5-under 66. Mickelson is at 8 under through 36 holes, Woods is 6 under and Singh is 2 under.

• Through six holes Saturday, Vijay Singh stood at 3 over par for the tournament and was in danger of missing the cut for his third consecutive start, something that has NEVER happened in Singh's illustrious PGA TOUR career, which spans 15+ years and 379 total starts. Singh rallied with four consecutive birdies (Nos. 17-18-1-2) and added another birdie at No. 6 to shoot a 66 and get to 2 under par for 36 holes. Singh is No. 5 in the current FedExCup points standings.

• Despite two late bogeys, Mike Weir carded a 3-under-par 68 and shares the lead at 9 under par with Aaron Baddeley and Rich Beem. The last time Weir opened a tournament with back-to-back rounds in the 60s was the 2006 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am (63-67/tie for third).

• Mike Weir, currently 88th in the FedExCup points list, needs to finish fifth or better in order to advance to next week's BMW Championship. Weir's last top-5 finish on the PGA TOUR came at the 2006 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am (tie for third).

• Rich Beem continues to play well down the stretch of the regular season and into the PGA TOUR Playoffs. Beem (67-66) birdied the final four holes Saturday is at 9 under par through 36 holes and is tied for second place. Beem tied for seventh at The Barclays last week and moved from No. 134 to No. 113 on the FedExCup points list. The last time Beem had back-to-back top-10 finishes was in 2002, when he won The International, won the PGA Championship and tied for sixth at the World Golf Championships-NEC Invitational in consecutive weeks.

• Rich Beem has now posted sub-par scores in nine of his last 10 rounds on the PGA TOUR. This is his best series of scores since the fall of 2002 when he carded 10 sub-par scores in a 12-round stretch (2/4 Valero Texas Open; 5/5 Invensys Classic of Las Vegas; first 3 rounds of the Disney Golf Classic).

• U. S. Open Champion Angel Cabrera had a pair of eagles today on par 5s (Nos. 2 and 18). There have been a total of six eagles at No. 2 in two days and Cabrera has two of them.
