Andres Romero jumped all the way to 14th from 135th with his victory last week. To do well in the FedExCup chase, however, he needs several more good finishes in the regular season to be well-positioned for a playoff run. While the top 10 players through Week 13 last year all finished among the top 30 seeds, only two of the players ranked 11 -- 20 in Week 13 were in the top 30 at the end of the regular season.

Several players in the field played well in Texas last year. The list below is all the players in the field who made the cut at all three Texas events last year, led by Tommy Armour III, who earned 1,453 points in the Shell Houston Open, the EDS Byron Nelson Classic and the Crowne Plaza Colonial. Of these players, Justin Leonard and Steve Marino are having the best years so far in 2008.

A host of players could make it into the top five with a win at the Shell Houston Open, but fewer than 20 of those earned any points here last year. The list below is all the players in the field who made the cut at the 2007 Shell Houston Open and could move into the Top 5 in the FedExCup points standings with a win. ON this list, the most likely candidates are Appleby, who was T2 last year, and Hunter Mahan and Anthony Kim who both tied for fifth.
