18-HOLE RECAP
SCORES: Lantana, Texas | Beaumont, Calif.

• LAST WEEK: RECAP | Central Fla. | North Fla. | Texas | Georgia

Low scores weren't easy to come by in the second round from Lantana Golf Club in Lantana, Texas, on Thursday. Only three players in the 77-man field managed to break 70 on the windswept day.

Texas native Casey Devoll stayed on top of the leaderboard after a second-round, 1-under 71 put him at 6 under for the tournament and two shots ahead of Henrik Bjornstad, who is alone in second at 4 under after a 71.

Jimmy Walker, Brian Vranesh and Bryn Parry are all three shots off the pace at 3 under. Varnesh shot a 3-under 69, while Parry turned in an incredible 6-under 66, which included seven birdies and an eagle and was the best score of the day by three shots.

The day's only other sub-70 round was recorded by 1998 British Open runner-up Brian Watts. He shot a 3-under 69. That, along with his 9-over 81 on Wednesday, has Watts tied for 45th.

Former PGA TOUR winner David Gossett struggled with a 10-over 82 to move to 13 over and in a tie for 73rd.

Alex Aragon maintained his lead at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont, Calif. After a 3-under 69 on Thursday, Aragon moved to 10-under total and has a one-shot advantage over James Drew, David McKenzie and PGA TOUR veteran Ted Purdy. McKenzie and Purdy each fired 7-under 65s in the second round.

S.S. Hong and Craig Kanada are just two shots off the pace at 8 under.

Former TOUR winner Mark Hensby is among a foursome tied for 11th, four shots off the lead at 6 under.
