IRVING, Texas -- Maybe now Trevor Immelman can finally get a moment to himself.
The reigning Masters champ simply ran out of gas at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship Thursday and couldn't find any reserves Friday. His rounds of 78-75 left him at 13 over for the tournament and headed home for the weekend.
Immelman had a whirlwind week following his Masters win and came into the EDS Byron Nelson Championship already tired. His 153 total was 10 shots higher than the cut line of 3-over 143.
He wasn't the only big name missing the cut. Ryder Cup captain Paul Azinger, Colleyville's Chad Campbell and 2006 EDS Byron Nelson Championship winner Brett Wetterich were both at 7 over, while defending Colonial champ and Fort Worth resident Rory Sabbatini shot 6 over.
Sean O'Hair was tied for 12th at the start of the day, but shot 75 and missed the cut by one shot. Others just missing at 4 over included former PGA Champion Steve Elkington and Chris DiMarco.
The big movers of the day up the leader board included Frank Lickliter, whose 5-under 65 sent him from tied for 82nd to a tie for 10th. John Mallinger, who started the day tied with Lickliter, shot 66 to move into a tie for 22nd.
Former British Open and PLAYERS champ Justin Leonard, a Dallas resident, and Scott McCarron also threw out 66s to move into contention. McCarron is one shot behind leader Adam Scott, while Leonard is two off the pace.
A total of 76 players made the cut.
