GRAND BLANC, Mich. -- Warwick Hills handed out low scores in abundance during the first two rounds of the 50th anniversary Buick Open.
In fact, all but 32 of the 152 players who completed two rounds in the $5 million event stood under par at the halfway point. Only the 85 who finished at 3 under or better get to play the weekend, though.
One of those was Rocco Mediate, who lost to Tiger Woods in a playoff at the U.S. Open two weeks ago. He came up with a clutch 69 on Friday that included birdies on two of his last three holes to make the cut.
"Today I felt much better," Mediate, who won the Buick Open in 2000, said. "(I) got some sleep and played a little better. I love it here and really wanted to play the weekend and (I have) got some friends here."
The cut matches the lowest cut on TOUR this year, which came last week at the Traveler's Championship. This is the third straight year the cut at Warwick Hills has come at 3 under and the 14th straight year it's been under par.

Positive movers
John Rollins -- the Virginian who tied for fifth last year suddenly finds himself in contention again after making nine birdies in his last 12 holes. The round of 64 vaulted Rollins from a tie for 97th into a share of 13th at 8 under.
Matt Jones -- the PGA TOUR rookie shot 9 under, which was the best round of the day. The 28-year-old Aussie who had missed his last six cuts moved up 44 spots into a tie for fourth with Woody Austin, as a result.
Lucas Glover -- the South Carolinian, who tied for 10th last year, made seven birdies and just one bogey in shooting a 66 that moved him from a tie for 48th to a tie for 13th.
Rocco Mediate -- the U.S. Open runner-up was admittedly running on fumes. He managed two birdies in his last three holes to shoot 69 and make sure he'd stick around for the weekend, moving from 71st to a tie for 48th.

Negative movers
Fred Funk -- the ageless 52-year-old had never missed a cut at the Buick Open before Friday. He was in good shape after opening with a 68 but a second round 75 sent him plummeting from a tie for 19th to a share of 97th.
Patrick Sheehan -- for the second straight week, the Rhode Islander opened with a round in the 60s, then couldn't break par in the second. He followed Funk into missing the cut.
Corey Pavin -- the diminutive 48-year-old held a share of the first round lead after opening with a 64. He couldn't maintain the pace, though, shooting 10 strokes higher to drop back into a tie for 30th.

On the number
Jason Day -- the young Australian was tied for 116th at the start of the day. He rallied with a 68, though, to stay in the mix at 3 under.
Cameron Beckman -- has missed four cuts and withdrawn twice in his last six starts. He'll be at Warwick Hills for the weekend, though, after a bogey-free 67 moved him up from a tie for 136th.
Michael Bradley -- making just his fifth start of the season, he was tied for 116th at the start of the second round. He made his second straight cut though with three birdies in his last six holes Friday.

Notable missed cuts
Brian Bateman -- the defending champion, who is battling a sore shoulder, becomes only the fourth to miss the cut the year after he won in the 50-year history of the tournament.
John Daly -- the fan favorite couldn't deliver, shooting rounds of 72 and 74. At least he and Detroit native Kid Rock provided some entertainment during the pro-am.
Brandt Snedeker -- the affable young man from Tennessee appeared secure after playing the back nine, his first of the day, in 33 but a string of three straight bogeys starting at No. 3 did him in.
