Tee time: 7:50 a.m.
Tee: No. 10
Total TOUR wins: 3
Why you should watch: After a bogey-free 65 on Thursday, Jones, looking for his first PGA TOUR victory, has now held or shared the first-round lead three times in his career. The others came at the 2008 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am (T48) and the 2002 Buick Open (T14). More importantly, Jones is in a position to move into the top 125 on the money list with a victory. Incidentally, Scherrer was also solid Thursday, turning in a 4-under 68.

Jason Gore, Dicky Pride, Patrick Sheehan
Tee time: 8:40 a.m.
Tee: No. 1
Total TOUR wins: 2
Why you should watch: Sheehan is currently the man in the hot seat at 125th on the money list. He'll need to go some on Friday if he wants to keep that spot heading into the year's final event next week at Disney. Sheehan starts the day at 2 over following a Thursday 74 that included two bogeys and a double in a five-hole stretch. bogey on the par-4 seventh. Meanwhile, Jeff Overton, currently No. 126 on the money list, opened with a 1-under 71 just nine days after undergoing an emergency appendectomy. Gore, who is also needing a big week to get inside the top 125, also started with an opening round of 1 under.

Cameron Beckman, Carl Pettersson, David Duval
Tee time: 12:50 p.m.
Tee: No. 1
Total TOUR wins: 18
Why you should watch: Could it happen for Beckman again? A week after snagging his first PGA TOUR title, Beckman kept right on rolling with birdies on two of his last three holes for a 4-under 68. This isn't completely unexpected, however. Although at a different course, Beckman also played well at the 2007 Ginn sur Mer Classic, finishing T5. Pettersson, a winner earlier this year in Greensboro, finished Thursday at even par. Duval, looking to make his third cut in five Fall Series starts, will begin Friday at 1 under.
