MORE E-NOTES: PGA TOUR | Champions Tour

The Nationwide Tour is in Texas this week for the WNB Golf Classic at Midland Country Club. While the course is among the longest on Tour at 7,380 yards, last year it surrendered 63 eagles -- a total exceeded in only two other events. The 559-yard 12th hole was eagled 29 times, while the 536-yard fourth gave up 22 eagles.

As the PGA TOUR winds down, six members of last year's Nationwide Tour graduating class are still among the top-125 money winners Nicholas Thompson, Chez Reavie, Michael Letzig, Patrick Sheehan, Martin Laird and Matt Jones. Just outside the top 125, with five events left, are Jason Day (128th), James Driscoll (130th) and Marc Turnesa (135th).

After this week's WNB Golf Classic, only two events will remain to qualify for the 60-man field at the Nationwide Tour Championship at TPC Craig Ranch. Cameron Percy is currently 60th on the money list with $96,118 in earnings, but the next 14 players on the list are less than $10,000 behind him.

D.J. Brigman, the 2003 WNB Golf Classic winner, is currently 30th on the money list, with $162,291. He is hoping to be a part of "THE 25" at season's end, a distinction that would give him his 2009 PGA TOUR card.

Midland Country Club is a traditional golf course, boasting length and narrow corridors lined with trees. The course is a par-72, 7,380-yard Ralph Plummer design (opened in 1950). Since the tournament moved to Midland Country Club, only once in 24 rounds has the scoring average been below 70. That came in the third round in 2005 when the average was 69.870.

Only four holes-in-one have been recorded in tournament history, with three coming at the Club at Mission Dorado and the fourth, and most recent, at Midland Country Club by Kevin Dillen in 2002. Dillen's came on the 11th hole. There have been 23 aces this year on the Nationwide Tour. Last year, there were 30 holes-in-one, the most in the Tour's 19-year history.

Roger Tambellini has four top-10 finishes this year, and they all occurred before the month of June. Tambellini, 24th on the money list with $182,405, has made nine consecutive cuts, yet his best finishes during that stretch are ties for 14th at both the Nationwide Tour Players Cup and the Utah Championship. Tambellini tied for 45th at the WNB Golf Classic last year. His best finish at this event was a tie for 35th in 2002.

Greg Chalmers is sixth on the money list on the strength of nine top-10s this year, including a playoff victory over Henrik Bjornstad at the Henrico County Open. Chalmers, who is ranked No. 1 in putting this season, was the leader after 36 holes and co-leader after 54 holes at last year's WNB Golf Classic. The Australian eventually tied for 15th after a final-round 77. Chalmers' only other appearance at this event came in 2005 when he tied for 29th.
