• A total of 79 players made the cut at 1-under 139. Last year, the cut was even-par 140 with 75 players playing on the weekend.

Kevin Stadler matched the tournament course record with a 9-under 61 on Friday, tying Mark Hensby's record that he set in the first round in 2007, the first year of the event. Stadler's 61 is a career best on TOUR.

• Leader Arron Oberholser, who currently resides just up the road from Greyhawk Golf Club, is not only looking for his first top-10 of the season, but also his second victory of his career. In 2006, he won the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am just up the road from where he grew up playing golf and very close where he attended college, San Jose State University.

• First-round leader John Mallinger fired a 1-under 69 and is three strokes back of Oberholser.

• After finishing T6 last week in Las Vegas, Davis Love III is now 125th on the money list with $764,737 in earnings. In the second round, he posted a 3-under 67 for a total of 136 (T32) to move on to the weekend in Scottsdale.

• This week marks the fifth week of the Fall Series in which players will have seven events to improve their standing on TOUR and attempt to finish among the Top 125 money winners to secure their playing privileges for 2009. When the Fall Series began, rookie Dustin Johnson held down the 125th spot with $621,605 in earnings, now Davis Love III is 12th coming into the week with $764,737, a jump of $143,132 over the last four weeks for the last spot for the 2009 season. Last year, the 125th player earned $785,180.

• The 2007 winner Mike Weir posted a 2-under 68 on Friday and is T14 after 36-holes (five strokes back of the lead) at Greyhawk Golf Club. Last year at the 36 hole point, he was four stroke off the lead an fired rounds of 65-68 to go on to win by a stroke.

Brad Elder's 7-under 63 matched his career-best effort on the PGA TOUR. He previously shot a 63 in the second round of the 1998 Kemper Open.

George McNeill's 7-under-par 63 is a career-best effort on the PGA TOUR. He previously shot a 64 twice in his career.

Brian Davis recorded a career-best round with his 7-under 63 on Friday. He previously shot a 64 four times, including posting a 64 three times in 2008. Davis is T21 going into the weekend.

Mathias Gronberg who is T9 after 36-holes is looking for his first top-10 of the season. His best finish of the year came at the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open, where he finished T14.

Steve Elkington, who is T9 through 36 holes, recorded his best effort of the season just down the road at the FBR Open (T4).

Michael Sim, Paul Goydos, Kevin Sutherland, Scott McCarron and Steve Lowery all carded bogey-free rounds on Friday.

Vaughn Taylor recorded just the second hole-in-one in the two-year tournament history. Taylor using a 5-iron aced No. 13. Last year Andrew Buckle made a hole-in-one at No. 8 in Round 1.
