Summary: This Labor Day weekend event, which finishes on Monday, featured a duel between Mickelson and Woods last year on a revamped golf course that earned great reviews. PGA TOUR member Brad Faxon and course architects Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner were brought in following the 2006 tournament to rework the Arnold Palmer-designed course and give it more of a New England feel, along the lines of Massachusetts' legendary courses such as Myopia Hunt Club, The Country Club and Kittansett Golf Club. There have been some minor tweaks to the course for this year's event, but nothing of the scale that transpired prior to 2007.
Local knowledge: "Player feedback was outstanding last year, and the course has really matured with some of the fescues and native grasses. The course really doesn't favor one style of player, and it can be played conservatively or aggressively. We made lots of holes with choices and a chance to make some birdies on the last few holes." -- Brad Faxon
