MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) -- PGA TOUR winner Dustin Johnson has been arrested on a charge of driving under the influence.
Johnson, a 24-year-old in his second full season on TOUR, was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Monday and released 22 minutes later, according to the facility's Web site.
"I have been charged with driving under the influence in the state of South Carolina," said Johnson. "I made an error in judgment that I deeply regret. I have let myself down and others who support me. I am handling the matter privately and rest assured I will definitely learn from my mistake."
Johnson won at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in February, his second career TOUR win. He stands ninth in this year's FedExCup points race and has earned almost $1.6 million.
Johnson makes his home in Myrtle Beach. He was scheduled to play at this week's Shell Houston Open in Humble, Texas.
