Starting at this week's Travelers Championship (on the PGA TOUR) and Dick's Sporting Goods Open (on the Champions Tour), the pros participating in each tournament will have a chance to wear a green ribbon in support of Ken Green, the Champions Tour player who had his lower right leg amputated after he was involved in a car accident that killed his girlfriend and brother.

The timing for the Travelers Championship in Hartford, Conn., is especially appropriate, given that Green is from nearby Danbury, Conn.

Additionally, players will have the option at registration of completing a form where they can pledge a contribution to a Trust the TOUR has established to assist Green.

Fans can also make a donation to the Trust, with all money going to ease Green's financial burden. Kevin Richardson, Green's good friend, lawyer and manager, will serve as the initial Trustee, while Slugger White, Green's brother-in-law, will serve as the back-up Trustee.

Direct contributions can be made to:
Ken Green Trust
PO Box 1811
Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32004-1811

Checks should be made out to "Ken Green Trust". Please note contributions to this trust are designated as gifts, not charitable contributions since this is not a charity.

Also, fans wanting to send their best wishes to Green can do so at this address:

1551 Forum Place, Suite 300F
West Palm Beach, FL 33401

Green, a five-time winner on the PGA TOUR, had his lower right leg amputated June 15 as a result of an RV accident June 8 near Hickory, Miss., when the vehicle blew a tire, went down an embankment and hit a large tree. The accident took the life of Ken's brother and girlfriend. Green now faces another operation for a fractured suborbital bone near his left eye.

Despite the loss of his leg, he has set a goal to return to competition.

Green had made 18 starts on the Champions Tour since turning 50 last July, with one top 10 and two top-25 finishes. Ken played full time on TOUR from 1982-1999 and again in 2004. Overall he had 508 TOUR starts and made 274 cuts during that time. He also made 55 appearances on the Nationwide Tour. He was also a member of the 1989 U.S. Ryder Cup team posting a 2-2 record at Royal Birkdale. The last of his five TOUR wins came at the 1989 Greater Greensboro Open.
