The Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper is one of four events on the 2009 schedule that is celebrating its 20th year along with the Nationwide Tour (Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft, Knoxville Open presented by Food City and Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open).

Highland Springs Country Club has served as the host course every year since the event's inaugural year in 1990. Other notable past champions include Stewart Cink (1996), Chris DiMarco (1997) and Pat Perez (2000).

HIGHLAND SPRINGS: There have been six playoffs in tournament history, the last coming in 2000 when Perez bested Pat Bates and Mike Heinen for his first and only win on the Nationwide Tour. The 18-hole scoring record of 12-under 60 belongs to Tyler Williamson, who shot it in in 2004. The 72-hole record of 27-under 261 was set by Doug LaBelle II in 2006.

Last year's 36-hole cut of 5-under matched the lowest on Tour in 2008.

PAST CHAMPIONS PLAYING: Tom Scherrer returns this week to the Price Cutter Charity Championship. Scherrer won the 2007 tournament. Roger Tambellini, the 2006 champion, is also in the field.

MISSING THE MISSOURI ACTION: Currently 84th in the Official World Golf Ranking, the Nationwide Tour's Michael Sim received an invitation to compete in this week's PGA Championship. His grouping on Thursday (9:05 a.m.) and Friday (2:15 p.m) includes 2009 PGA TOUR winner Michael Bradley and Brian Gaffney. The 24-year-old Australian's ranking was as high as 77th on July 26, which is the best ever achieved by an active Nationwide Tour player. Sim has a commanding lead on the Nationwide Tour money list of $120,899 over Chris Tidland and is one win away from a three-win PGA TOUR promotion.

MORE NATIONWIDE TOUR REPRESENTATION: Sixty-six Nationwide Tour alums are in the PGA Championship field at Hazeltine National Golf Club this week, including former winners John Daly (1991 champion), David Toms (2001) and Shaun Micheel (2003).

PLAYER OF THE MONTH: Blake Adams, who is teeing it up this week in Missouri, earned his first Nationwide Tour Player of the Month honor when he picked up three top-10 finishes in July.

Adams' July results
Tournament Result Scores Earnings
Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic 2 68-68-64-69 (269) $86,410.69
Cox Classic 8 67-65-69-68 (269) $22,475
Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational T6 71-70-69-68 (278) $29,450

PLAYER TO WATCH: Fargo, N.D., native and resident Dave Schultz has been August's big mover on the Nationwide Tour. Entering the Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational two weeks ago, the 27-year-old was 157th on the money list. After a tie for third in the Columbus, Ohio, event and a tie for second in the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open last week, Schultz is now in the middle of "THE 25" picture, on the bubble at No. 24. Seven of his last eight rounds have been in the 60s. The one exception, a 77 on Sunday in Ohio, really hurt. He began that final round with a three-shot lead. Schultz is the son of nationally-syndicated talk show host, Ed Schultz -- of The Ed Schultz Show -- and the cousin of Nationwide Tour player Brad Fritsch of Edmonton, Canada.
