Overview: The Internationals' Vijay Singh and Robert Allenby maintained the lead for most of the match, but Americans Hunter Mahan and Stewart Cink rallied late to halve the point. With the Internationals 1 up with two holes to play, the two teams each birdied the 17th, with Allenby rolling in a clutch birdie putt on top of Mahan's birdie from 13 feet. But the par-5 18th turned into a disaster for Greg Norman's duo. Singh found the rough with his drive, and Allenby pulled his second shot into the gallery left and short of the green. Meanwhile, Mahan found the green in two to set up a two-putt birdie to win the hole and gain the half-point. Until that point, Allenby and Singh had played solidly all day, never carding a bogey. Meanwhile, the Americans carded five birdies and three bogeys
Key moment: Knowing his team needed a birdie to have any chance, Mahan found the green with his second shot to set up an easy opportunity that allowed the Americans to win the 18th hole. Cink nearly drained the putt for eagle but as it turned out, birdie was enough.
Quotes: "We did get off to a quick start, and I think we were feeling pretty good about it. And then four holes later, we lost four straight holes, so we had to find a new gear. We threw a little bit at them and they hung in there great, too. It was a really awesome match all the way." -- Stewart Cink
"We are playing against some good players, and we needed to dig deep the last few holes. We knew there was an opening. We knew if we could make a few birdies and a few putts we could put the pressure on and we did that." -- Hunter Mahan
"These guys on the other team are such good players that they are not going to give you anything. All day you think you might get a glimpse of holes, and they bury a 10 footer to halve the hole. We kept plugging away and got back to even." -- Stewart Cink
