LA QUINTA, Calif. -- Amateur Andrew Goldfarb of Sherman Oaks, Calif., scored an ace Wednesday at the Palmer Private Course at PGA WEST during the first round of the 50th Bob Hope Classic hosted by Arnold Palmer to win the $100,000 Sentient Jet Hole-In-One contest.

Goldfarb, who also plays out of the Quarry Club in La Quinta, Calif., and Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif., holed out with a 51-degree sand wedge on the 156-yard par-3 15th hole, the sixth hole of his round. Goldfarb receives $50,000 in flight credits from Sentient Jet Membership, which also will donate $50,000 cash to Desert Classic Charities, chief beneficiary of the Bob Hope Classic. The first amateur to record a hole-in-one at this year's Classic won the prize.

"It was the ugliest shot I hit for a hole-in-one," laughed Goldfarb, about his third career ace.

"I hit it right, it hit the rough, bounced on to the green and went downhill toward the water. It tracked and all nine of us were watching. It hit the flag and went straight down."

"He hit a pretty good sized hook and it landed on the side of the green there," said PGA TOUR pro Wes Short, Jr., who played in Goldfarb's group. "It kicked toward the hole and rolled right in. It was pretty amazing."

"We are thrilled to partner for the fourth consecutive year with the PGA TOUR and the Bob Hope Classic, two world-class organizations that have helped Sentient build a thriving business," said Steven Hankin, Sentient's chief executive officer. "We congratulate Mr. Goldfarb on his incredible shot and look forward to having him experience Sentient's exceptional service for his upcoming private jet travel. More importantly, Sentient Jet Membership is especially pleased to make a $50,000 contribution to Desert Classic Charities in support of their efforts to assist charities in the Coachella Valley."

In 49 years, the Bob Hope Classic has donated more than $47 million to charities throughout the Coachella Valley. Tickets are only $25 per day, with several packages offering additional savings. For more information, go to www.bhcc.com or call 1.888.MRBHOPE (672.4673).
