PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. -- The first three rounds will be played with preferred lies.

• This is the seventh time that Goosen has led or shared the lead through two rounds. The last time was the 2005 TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola. Of the six previous events, he has one victory.

Goosen's leads or shared leads through 36 holes:
Year Tournament Finished
2002 PGA Championship T23
2003 Sony Open in Hawaii T20
2003 Chrysler Championship 1
2004 Ford Championship at Doral 3
2005 U.S. Open Championship T11
2005 THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola T4
2009 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am ??

• Both of Goosen's top-10 finishes last year on the PGA TOUR came at World Golf Championships events (a tie for second at the CA Championship and tie for fourth at the Bridgestone Invitational).

• Goosen's low round on the PGA TOUR is a 62 at the 2002 World Golf Championships-American Express Championship. His 64 on Friday matches his second-lowest round on TOUR, which he has done nine previous times.

• Goosen's 68-64--132 total is the second-lowest through 36 holes of his PGA TOUR career. He has twice shot a 36-hole total of 130. First at the 2002 World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational and again at the 2005 TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola.

Dustin Johnson's 65-69--134 total is the lowest 36-hole total of his career. His previous low was 66-69--135 at the U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee last year.

• Johnson finished tied for seventh last year in his first appearance at Pebble Beach.

• Johnson played his first 18 holes bogey free at Pebble Beach Golf Links on Thursday. His second round at Spyglass was marked by one blemish, a double bogey at the par-4 17th hole, his eighth hole of the day after starting on No. 10.

• Johnson's previous best standing through 36 holes was seventh at the 2008 Turning Stone Resort, when he went on to record his first PGA TOUR win.

Charley Hoffman finished his day with a birdie on his 17th hole (hole No. 8) and eagled the par-5 ninth hole to finish his round at 8-under-par for the tournament, four strokes off the lead and tied for third. Hoffman is looking for his third consecutive top-10 finish of the season, matching his total from last season. In 331 previous starts on the PGA TOUR, Hoffman has never had three consecutive top-10 finishes.

• At sixth place, Hoffman is the highest-ranked player without a victory in the early FedExCup standings. He has shot par or better in 14 of 15 rounds so far this season.

• In three events in 2009, Hoffman has yet to finish outside the top-20 including a playoff loss to Kenny Perry at the FBR Open: Bob Hope Classic hosted by Arnold Palmer, tied for 19th; FBR Open, runner up; Buick Invitational, tie for seventh.

Mike Weir followed Thursday's 67 at Poppy Hills with a 69 on Friday at Pebble Beach Golf Links and is tied for third at 8-under-par. Weir has six top-10s in 11 starts at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

• Only five players since 1970 (and two since 1993) have made the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am their first win on the PGA TOUR: John Cook (1981), Steve Jones (1988), Brett Ogle (1993), Matt Gogel (2002) and Arron Oberholser (2006).

• There are four players in the top 10 who are looking for their first PGA TOUR victory: Robert Garrigus (tied for third at 8 under); Charlie Wi (tied for seventh at 7 under); Aron Price (tied for seventh at 7 under); Bill Lunde (tied for seventh at 7 under).

• Lunde, Bob Heintz, Todd Fischer, Jim Furyk and Glen Day shot bogey-free rounds on Friday. Lunde is the only player in the field who is bogey free through all 36 holes.
