EXPERT PREVIEW: PGA TOUR Network on-site correspondent John Maginnes looks ahead to Friday's second round:
Colonial Country Club is timeless. Its rich history is on display every day of the year. But there were times on Thursday when it was hard to tell what year it was. With a host of ageless wonders on the leaderboard, it seemed more like 1989 or 1999 than 2009. Vijay Singh, Kenny Perry and even Ian Baker-Finch all posted solid opening rounds and look to be factors this weekend.

| Friday's forecast |
Mostly Sunny Temp: 88 high/63 low Sunny and hot with light winds. |

Terrific scoring conditions were the theme Thursday, and that trend looks to continue on Friday. The forecast is for warm sunny skies and very little wind. Coupled with soft greens, the best players in the game are going to have another field day on Friday.
The local scene here is fantastic -- I don't think that anyone works in Fort Worth on Friday afternoon. Throngs will come out and enjoy perfect weather and an early start to the weekend.
A little less than half the field will be dispatched on Friday afternoon when the cut is made somewhere around 1 under. While most hanging around the cut line do so in relative anonymity, there are two Aussies at completely different stages of their careers who haven't played a weekend in a while. Both Adam Scott and Ian Baker-Finch will battle their own individual cut line demons on Friday. Adam has missed his last six cuts on the PGA TOUR and has fallen outside the top 30 in the world.
Finchy, on the other hand, isn't ranked anymore. He is making his first start in more than eight years on the PGA TOUR and hasn't cashed a check in a 15 years on the PGA TOUR. He wouldn't mind being late for work in the CBS compound this weekend. Both men opened with 68s.

All three of Dean Wilson's aces during his career on the PGA TOUR have come in consecutive seasons (2007 Arnold Palmer Invitational, 2008 HP Byron Nelson Championship, 2009 Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial), two of which occurred in the Lone Star State. Wilson aced the 13th hole on Thursday with a 7-iron. |
