Weather: Early-morning sunny skies with an afternoon high in the upper 80s. Southwest winds 10-20 mph. Play was suspended for the day at 4:23 p.m. CT due to a dangerous situation. Play for the 78 players yet to complete the second round will commence at 7 a.m. CT on Saturday morning, with the 36-hole cut to follow. The suspension of play on Friday marks the seventh PGA TOUR event interrupted by weather in 2009.

• The 130 total for the opening 36 holes for Brian Gay is a personal best on the PGA TOUR. His previous low was 131 on two occasions, most recently at the 2003 Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

• Gay leads the field with 14 birdies through 36 holes.

• Gay needed only 23 putts on Friday, and has just 49 putts total through 36 holes.

• Gay sits 12th in the current FedExCup standings and 13th in the United States Presidents Cup standings.

Heath Slocum and Bryce Molder carded the low rounds of the tournament through 36 holes with 7-under-par 63s, two off the course record of 61 (Bob Estes, 2001 and Jay Delsing, 1993).

• Gay is making his 11th career start at the St. Jude Classic, his previous best finish being fourth in 2007.

The 36-hole lead for Gay is the third of his career:
Year Tournament 36-hole score Finish
2009 St. Jude Classic 130 --
2009 Verizon Heritage 133 1
2001 Zurich Classic 132 T5

Robert Allenby, who lost in a playoff to Justin Leonard at the 2008 St. Jude Classic, will have made his 39th cut in his last 40 starts, his only blemish being a missed cut at the 2009 Verizon Heritage. Prior to that, Allenby's last MC was the 2007 Sony Open in Hawaii.

• Allenby is playing in his 202nd event since his last PGA TOUR win at the 2001 Marconi Pennsylvania Open. During this period, Allenby has posted four runner-ups and 46 top-10s.

Loren Roberts, playing in his record 25th St. Jude Classic, sits T7 after a 67-67--134 start. Roberts has now made 20 of 25 cuts at the St. Jude Classic, tied with Dave Hill and Gene Littler for most cuts made at the PGA TOUR's Memphis event.

• Roberts took a one-time PGA TOUR exemption for 2009, having entered the season among the top 50 on the career PGA TOUR money list. His only other start of 2009 was a missed cut at the season-opening Sony Open in Hawaii.

• Roberts' last top-10 on the PGA TOUR was at the 2005 Southern Farm Bureau Classic (T2).

Camilo Villegas eagled the par 4 17th hole with a 8-iron from 170 yards. It marks the first eagle on 17 since 2000 and the third eagle on the hole since the tournament began playing at TPC Southwind in 1989.

• Two-time St. Jude Classic champion David Toms sits T4 at 7 under with four holes remaining in his second round. Toms has rebounded from a sub-par 2008 season with five top-10s, including a T2 at the Sony Open in Hawaii. Toms is exempt into U.S. Open and British Open after missing the Masters in April.

• The third-to-last alternate to gain entry into this week's field, Guy Boros (T4) has split his time between the PGA TOUR (three starts) and the Nationwide Tour (seven starts) in 2009. Boros has three career Nationwide Tour victories along with his win on the PGA TOUR, the 1996 Vancouver Open.

• Guy Boros needed only nine putts on his final nine holes on Friday, in part due hitting only four of nine holes.

• The 2007 St. Jude Classic champion Woody Austin (T4), sits three back of 36-hole leader Brian Gay. Austin's win in 2007 was marks his lone top-10 at the event in 11 starts, with five missed cuts in that period.

• Conway, Arkansas native Bryce Molder (T2) posted a 7-under-par 63 on Friday, matching his career low (Round 4, 2002 EDS Byron Nelson Championship). Making his ninth start of the season, Molder is looking for his first top-10 of the 2009 campaign.
