The first groups are ready to tee off in Round 2 at the BMW Championship. Here's how it sets up:

Groups We're Watching
Tee time Players
1:09 p.m. ET, Hole No. 1 Tiger Woods, Steve Stricker, Heath Slocum
Stricker showed fatigue in Round 1 and will need to fight past that the rest of the weekend.
11:52 a.m. ET, Hole No. 1 Sean O'Hair, Retief Goosen, Jim Furyk
Goosen, at 1 over, doesn't need a perfect round, but less than four bogeys would be a good start.
11:52 a.m. ET, Hole No. 10 Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Nick Watney
Watney overcame two double bogeys in the first round to get under par and into the top 20.

Round 1 was pretty typical, at least in my mind, as players took on the redesigned Cog Hill (Dubsdread) Course. As I look forward to the second round, I feel the players will continue to familiarize themselves with this golf course, and they will adapt to the changes extremely well. I had some difficulties with breaks on putts, myself, and I will improve as well.

When I spoke with Steve Stricker prior to the Championship, he indicated he was tired. During the first round, he looked tired but fought off some bad play and finished with a 1-over 72. After his round, he was sitting on a cooler close to the scoring trailer at the ninth green, waiting for Tiger Woods to finish with the media. I went up to him and said, " Trying to get a little rest?" He replied, "Yes, and it feels pretty good." It has been a hectic few weeks for Steve, but look for him to bounce back in the second round. He is just playing too well.

The PGA TOUR rules staff set the course up in Round 1 to 7,400 yards. With the weather perfect, and the forecast looking good, look for them to stretch it further for the second round.

Stat of the day
This marks the eighth time in Rory Sabbatini's TOUR career that he has held at least a share of the 18-hole lead, most recently in 2007 at The Barclays (finished third). He has yet to carry the 18-hole lead on to victory.
