| Five things you should know about Brian Gay |

Gay was born a military brat in Fort Worth, Texas, but was raised primarily at Fort Rucker, Alabama, where his father was in the U.S. Army. |
 |
An only child, he spent much of his youth at the Fort Rucker golf course, encouraged by a group of military retirees he often played with, he dominated the local tournament scene as a pre-teen. |
 |
Success as a teenager led to a scholarship to the University of Florida, where he was an All-American and led the Florida Gators to two SEC titles and the 1993 National Championship. |

Is one of the shortest hitters (268 yards per drive, 195th on TOUR), but is also one of the best putters (28.10 putts per round, fourth on TOUR). |

Is one of only two players (Cameron Beckman is the other) to score more than 10 under total on par 3s in 2009. Heading into the Buick Open, Gay has played them in 10 under. Beckman is 13 under. Very few TOUR regulars play par 3s under par for the entire season. |
