DAVID TOMS: 19th in FedExCup points (320 after reset)
Thanks to seven top-10s, including three runner-up finishes, Toms returns to THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola for the first time since the event became the finale to the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup. Toms has played well at the event in the past, posting a tie for second in 2001 (at Champions Golf Club in Houston) and a third-place finish in 2002 (at East Lake Golf Club). But the veteran didn't advance past The Barclays last year and finished three spots out of THE TOUR Championship in 2007. Toms, a 12-time PGA TOUR winner, is looking for his first TOUR victory since the 2006 Sony Open in Hawaii.
Quick analysis
Toms has done everything this year except win. Why not save the best for THE TOUR Championship? He has tied for second three times this year and has four other top-10s. His run through the Playoffs has been solid, but he'll need to step it up at East Lake. -- Helen Ross
