In the inaugural PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup, it seemed only fitting that the world's top-ranked golfer would claim the TOUR's biggest prize, as Tiger Woods rolled through the Playoffs with two tournament wins and a second-place finish, earning the $10 million bonus with a record-setting performance at THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola.

Not only did Woods win at East Lake, he also won the previous event, the BMW Championship. A week before that, he finished tied for second at the Deutsche Bank Championship in a dominating Playoffs performance (Woods did not play in the opening Playoff event, The Barclays).

In those 12 playoff rounds, Woods was a combined 59 under, with a scoring average of 65.75. He won THE TOUR Championship by eight strokes, finishing at 23 under and shattering the tournament record at East Lake while also posting the third-best 72-hole total of all time.

He has now won four of his last five starts, including the last two, and he tied for second in the one where he didn't get the trophy. He shattered the tournament record at East Lake and posted the third-best 72-hole total of all-time.

Woods never paid much attention to the FedExCup until it was shining before him on a pedestal on the 18th green Sunday at East Lake. He always figured his name would be the first engraved on the new trophy as long as he kept winning.

"I don't look at what the purse is or the prize money," Woods said. "You play. And when you play, you play to win, period. That's how my dad raised me, is you go out there and win. If you win, everything will take care of itself. You take great pride in what you do on the golf course, and when you're able to win events, that's when you can go home and be very proud of what you've done."

The FedExCup was created to put some sizzle into the final month of a shorter season, resetting a points system for the final four tournaments. Woods certainly was pleased with the outcome.

"We had some great drama," Woods said of the inaugural FedExCup season. "In the end, it was a lot of fun for all of us."

There was no drama at East Lake, not with Woods hitting on all cylinders to wrap up another phenomenal year in which he won seven times. Along with winning majors and World Golf Championships, he now has something else to chase.

"It just makes it harder for the rest of us," said Zach Johnson. "Why give him another thing to try to achieve. He's a very driven man. When you add another element to that drive, what are you going to do?"
