Duffy Waldorf, who finished 153rd on the 2005 PGA TOUR money list to lose his fully-exempt status for the first time since finishing 157th in 1990, is looking to post his first victory since the 2000 FUNAI Classic at the WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort. It would be his fifth TOUR win and would come five years, three months and 28 days since his last one at Disney. • Third-round leader Duffy Waldorf began the day with five birdies in his first six holes. Waldorf has held/shared the third-round lead 11 previous times on TOUR, coming out a winner twice -- 1995 Valero Texas Open and 1999 Buick Classic. It’s the first time he has been atop the leaderboard through 54 holes since the 2002 Phoenix Open, where he finished sixth. • In the 56 years that the tournament has gone 72 holes, 33 of the players who either held/shared the 54-hole lead have gone on to victory, including Geoff Ogilvy’s victory in 2005. That means it has happened just under 60 percent (58.9%) of the time. Match that stat up with the fact that six of the first seven tournaments in 2006 have been won by third-round leaders and it might be hard to bet against the 54-hole leader on Sunday. • The 54-hole total of 19-under 197 is the lowest 54-hole total at the Chrysler Classic of Tucson since David Duval set the course tournament record at 20-under 196 on his way to victory in 1998. • Two left-handed rookies sit inside the top-10 in search of their first PGA TOUR victory -- Bubba Watson (2nd) and Eric Axley (tied for ninth). They are looking to follow in the footsteps of fellow TOUR rookie J.B. Holmes, who captured the FBR Open in Phoenix earlier this month.
• Bubba Watson extended his streak to 54 holes without a bogey. The last player to play 72 holes without a bogey and win was Lee Trevino at the 1974 Greater New Orleans Open. Bob Estes saw his bogey-free streak end at 44 with his first bogey of the week on the par-4 ninth hole. • Eric Axley, who finished 16th on the 2005 Nationwide Tour money list to earn his initial PGA TOUR card, fired a career-best 7-under 65, including a stretch of nine birdies over 11 holes. Playing in his eighth career TOUR event, and fifth this season, Axley made his first cut of the season this week and second of his career. The 65 was just his third career round in the 60s in 19 rounds, two of which came this week (70-68-65). • 2004 champion Heath Slocum has posted three rounds in the 60s, including a 7-under 65 on Saturday to get to 15-under 201, four strokes behind the leader Duffy Waldorf. Also in contention is 1999 champion Gabriel Hjertstedt, who added a 7-under 65 to get to 14-under 202. • John Cook, playing his 27th season on the PGA TOUR, sits tied for fifth, five strokes behind the leader after a third-round 7-under 65. Cook has finished outside the top 125 the past three seasons and last won at the 2001 Reno-Tahoe Open. Cook’s son Jason is on the bag this week. • The 64 by Kirk Triplett was his best round on TOUR since a 64 during the first round of the 2005 FedEx St. Jude Classic. It was the best round of the day and helped him make the biggest jump on Saturday going from a tie for 53rd to a tie for ninth, a move of 44 spots. • 2005 champion Geoff Ogilvy advanced to the final of the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, where he will face Davis Love III. • Todd Fischer and Bubba Watson were the only players in the field to hit all 18 greens on Saturday. • Jason Allred recorded two eagles during the third round on Saturday. He eagled the par-5 second and 10th holes. He is the second player to do so this week after Scott Gutschewski who did so in round one. • There were nine bogey-free rounds on Saturday -- Duffy Waldorf, Bubba Watson, Gabriel Hjertsted, Camilo Villegas, David Edwards, Todd Fischer, Brendan Jones, Jerry Kelly and Kirk Triplett. • In a tournament known for producing first-time winners on the PGA TOUR, 14 total including five of the last six, the following players in the top 10 are looking for their first TOUR victory --Mark Wilson (3rd), David Branshaw (tied for fifth), Eric Axley (tied for ninth), Nathan Green (tied for ninth), Jason Allred (tied for ninth) and Doug Barron (tied for ninth). • Key Statistical Leaders for Round Three:
