The Nationwide Tour's top players will be joined by a star-studded cast of celebrities and pro athletes this week when the Tour heads to the Greenville, S.C., area for the $625,000 BMW Charity Pro-Am at The Cliffs.

It's one of the hottest events for the Tour each year, drawing consistently strong fields and raising nearly $3 million for local charities since its inception.

The tournament's unique multi-course format is sprawled across three courses in The Cliffs development located on the border of North Carolina and South Carolina. With the Blue Ridge Mountains serving as the picturesque backdrop, players will take on The Cliffs Valley course, Kiowa Vineyards and the Tour's toughest ranked course last year, Walnut Cove.

Headlining the field of 28 former PGA TOUR winners is undisputed golf legend and soon-to-be local resident, Gary Player. The winner of 25 PGA TOUR events, 19 Champions Tour events and nine major championships is competing in the tournament for the third consecutive year. Player, a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, recently announced plans to relocate his family and company to the area as he becomes spokesperson for The Cliffs Communities and designer of their seventh course, Mountain Park.

Other sports idols competing in the event include hockey legends, Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier and Bret Hull, and NFL Hall of Famer, John Elway. They will be joined by a stellar cast of Hollywood stars including Cheech Marin, former J.A.G actress Catherine Bell and Oscar winner Kevin Costner, whose band will take the stage at the completion of play Saturday night for volunteers and attendees.

The Tour's current money leader, Tripp Isenhour, will also be on hand in hopes of capturing the three-win promotion that has eluded him the last few events. Isenhour is seeking a third win of the season this week that would send him straight to the PGA TOUR in record-breaking time. And Isenhour has certainly proved he has what it takes -- he won the tournament in 2003.
