• Jay Haas enters this week with 589 career cuts made on the PGA TOUR. If he makes the cut at the Memorial Tournament, he will tie the record for career cuts made on TOUR, currently held by Tom Kite. • John Cook’s tie for third last week at the FedEx St. Jude Classic was his best finish on TOUR since a tie for second at the 2002 Memorial Tournament. •Rookie Kris Cox made a huge leap last week. After missing the cut in nine of his first 11 starts, Cox finished a career-best tied for third in Memphis to jump from 202nd on the money list to 116th.
•Another rookie, •The last seven events on the TOUR have been won by Nationwide Tour grads. The streak began with Aaron Baddeley and now includes Stuart Appleby, Chris Couch, Jim Furyk, Brett Wetterich, Tim Herron and Jeff Maggert. Former Nationwide Tour players have won 13 of the first 22 events this season. •Look out for Fred Couples this week. The veteran has finished in solo second at the Memorial Tournament in each of the past two seasons. He also won at Muirfield Village back in 1998. |
