Giving Back

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and the Rochester Community, we were able to donate more than $150,000 since the inception of the Xerox Classic.

This money will significantly impact four local charities including the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center, The YMCA of Greater Rochester, The First Tee of Rochester and the Education Programs of the Rochester Broadway Theatre League

Each year it is our goal to increase charity donations and with your help we can make a difference in the lives of those that live, work and play in our own back yard.

Rochester Broadway Theatre League

Turning dreams into reality has long been a goal for the Rochester Broadway Theatre League's Educational Programs.  Serving a student population that covers a nine-county area, students from middle school age to high school age have experienced one or more of the exciting offerings made available to the greater Rochester area.  In a given academic year, these programs touch thousands of students.  Each program offered remains a long lasting memory in the minds and hearts of the participating students.  Support from the Xerox Classic will not only enable the RBTL to continue these very fine and exciting programs but will also make these programs available to more students and schools through an extensive scholarship program.

The Rochester Broadway Theatre League is currently presenting these educational programs to the greater Rochester community:

Stars of Tomorrow is a program that is committed to recognizing excellence in the high school musical.  Forty-four participating schools from nine counties surrounding the Rochester area are adjudicated by a team of trained judges who travel to each school and recognize their excellence in 13 different categories that culminate at a gala award ceremony in June.

Master Class at the RBTL give area students an opportunity to study with members of the cast from Equity touring productions and attend the performance that evening.  Students also have an opportunity to do career exploration and have dinner with the members of the production.

Theater Team is a unique partnership between the Rochester City School District and RBTL. Through the magic of the program, RBTL brings the theatre to the classroom and then the classroom to the theatre.  It is a one-time experience of attending a live Broadway musical that can truly make a difference in the lives of many of the participating students.

Explorer Post is a committed partnership between the Boy Scouts of America's Exploring Program and the League.  Students who have an interest in a possible career in the Performing Arts come together for a series of seminars and hands on experiences that will offer insight possible careers.

The Middle School Project is a program focused on inspiring sixth through eighth graders to learn about and to appreciate the performing arts. With dedicated partnership between the school and the League, teachers and the League work together to prepare the students for the live theatre experience. The response to this new program has been overwhelming.

Explore New York City is an adult outreach program that annually hosts a theatre weekend in New York City for Broadway shows and the sights and sounds of the city.  This program continues to be very popular and sells out each year.

The total impact that these educational programs make cannot be measured by dollars.  The effects are long lasting and have a far greater reaching effect than we realize.  The support from the Xerox Classic is essential for these programs to continue in the fine sense of the tradition that has been established.  How sad it would be if these programs were to be eliminated.  With your support these programs will continue to grow and thrive in an environment that will turn a student's dream into reality.

On behalf of the thousands of students who benefit from the Rochester Broadway Theatre League's Education Programs, we thank you for your support.
