Founded in 1892 as a 12-bed charity hospital, over the last year Children's Hospital has served kids from across Ohio, all 50 states, and 21 foreign countries, recording over 700,000 patient visits. Our mission is best described by the acronym "CARES": Children's is dedicated to providing the highest level of Care, Advocacy, Research, Education, and Service to patients and families in central Ohio and beyond, without regard for their ability to pay. To that end, we provide more than $50 million in uncompensated care every year. Children's Hospital's commitment to excellence has won it national recognition, including being named to the US News and World Report "America's Best Hospitals" list. In January 2007, Child magazine determined Children's was the sixth best pediatric hospital in the country and number one in emergency care. The hospital's pediatricians are members of the faculty of The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health. In 2006, Children's trained hundreds of residents and fellows in its nationally recognized graduate medical education program, including rotating residents from 10 other institutions. Additionally, 1,700+ students receive training at Children's annually. The Children's Hospital campus includes: As we grow, positioning Children's to be a national leader in pediatric healthcare in the 21st century, we remain passionately dedicated to our core purpose -providing the absolute best healthcare to every child. |
