The First Tee of Metropolitan New York

The mission of The First Tee of Metropolitan New York is to impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and education programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.  TFTMNY services New York City, Long Island, Fairfield, Westchester, and Essex Counties.

The First Tee of Essex County

In August of 2006, The First Tee of Essex County was formed through a partnership between the Metropolitan Golf Association, New Jersey PGA and New Jersey State Golf Association.  Located at Weequahic Park Golf Course in the heart of Newark's South Ward, the organization converted a blighted former dumping site into a beautiful Junior Learning Facility to serve the youth of Essex County.  This facility is a versatile practive area that can be used for short game instruction, a limited flight driving range and a three-hole short course to introduce youth people to the game and its positive values.

YMCA

The New Jersey Alliance of YMCA's is a not-for-profit association made up of 44 YMCA's from the state of New Jersey.  They bring the independent YMCA's of New Jersey together to colloborate and work on areas of mutual benefit in order to strengthen and enhance their individual YMCAs and the collective strength of NJ YMCA's to better serve the people of New Jersey.

Among their goals is to develop and implement strategic statewide programs and brands which will have a positive impact on solving critical needs and issues in the state of New Jersey, to provide a unified voice to address Public Policy issues, and to fulfill their mission to build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.

Everyday, YMCA staff members and volunteers throughout the state of New Jersey are providing programs and services to children, youth, adults, seniors, families, those with special needs, and others based on the four core values of the YMCA: Caring; Honesty; Respect; and Responsibility.

YWCA of Bergen County

The YWCA is the oldest and largest multicultural women's organization in the world.

Across the globe, they have more than 25 million members in 122 countries, including 2.6 million members and participants in 300 local associations in the United States.

More important than the numbers, is their mission to eliminate racism and empower women.  They provide safe places for women and girls, build strong women leaders, and advocate for women's rights and civil rights in Congress.

Women come to them in times of crisis, as survivors of rape or domestic violence.  They come for childcare.  They come for health and fitness.  They come for a variety of reasons.  But they come.  And they leave with a renewed spirit, new skills, and stronger lives.

The American Red Cross

The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

Northern New Jersey Chapter:

The American Red Cross of Northern New Jersey responds to over 350 disasters each year throughout Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic and Warren counties.

Their chapter services include disaster relief, blood services, disaster and emergency preparedness training, health and safety courses, military and international services, Braille transciption and volunteer and youth opportunities.

With service centers in Fairfield, Ridgewood, Jersey City, Morristown and Belvidere, they have the ability to assist the 3.5 million people residing in the communities they serve.

During the 2008 fiscal year, their chapter provided relief for 2,580 individuals and families displaced by disaster.  They trained over 65,000 people in disaster response and health and safety training and collected 5,735 pints of life saving blood.

The Red Cross is led by volunteers and that is why they are able to make such effective use of donor dollars.  They depend on the generosity of the American public through volunteerism and donations.

The American Red Cross of Northern New Jersey is chartered by the U.S. Congress, is not a government agency and receives little or no government funding.  Donations of time, money, and blood from others make their humanitarian work possible.
