Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship

Baltimore, MD (Sept. 24, 2007) - As a salute to the Armed Forces in the area, the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship is extending FREE admission to active and retired military, active reservists and Department of Defense Civilian employees in all branches of the Armed Forces at military installations in the National Capitol Region.  Spouses with Department of Defense ID cards will also receive free admission.  The tournament will take place October 1-7 at Baltimore Country Club's East Course in Timonium, MD.

Four Navy personnel from the U.S. Naval Academy, Waterfront Readiness Division, Small Craft Repair Department will be on hand on Thursday, October 4, to announce the professionals as they tee off.  Honorary announcers are: Quartermaster Senior Chief J.J. Myers, Lieutenant Vincent Hamilton, Machinist's Mate Chief Jeffrey W. LeCuyer and Lieutenant Dwayne Hilton. 

Champions Tour professionals who have committed to the event include defending champion Bobby Wadkins, World Golf Hall of Fame members Ben Crenshaw, Hale Irwin, Tom Kite, Bernhard Langer, Nick Price and Tom Watson, Maryland native Fred Funk, Gil Morgan, Craig Stadler, Jeff Sluman, Jay Haas, Scott Hoch, Denis Watson, Jim Thorpe and Chip Beck  The list of past champions of the tournament includes Arnold Palmer (1984 and 1985), Chi Chi Rodriguez (1986), Gary Player (1987), Jack Nicklaus (1990), Hale Irwin (1999), Raymond Floyd (1996 and 2000), Craig Stadler (2003) and Peter Jacobsen (2005).

About the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship
The Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship is one of five major championships on the PGA TOUR's Champions Tour for eligible professionals age 50 and over.  Dates for the 2007 event are October 1-7.  Beginning this year, the event will be played on the East Course at Baltimore Country Club in Timonium, MD, with a field of 78 Champions Tour players competing for a share of the $2.6 million purse, the largest of the season.  As the last of the Champions Tour majors, the double Charles Schwab Cup points awarded to the top-10 finishers will be a critical factor in deciding the Charles Schwab Cup points race.

The final two rounds of the event will be broadcast on NBC - in high definition for the first time - and aired in more than 140 countries around the world (2-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday).  For the first time, all five of the Champions Tour's majors will have network weekend coverage.
