![]() Sponsors of the Toshiba Classic are an elite group, which make the Toshiba Classic the most successful fundraiser on the Champions Tour. The Toshiba Classic is not only one of the most exciting legs of the Champions Tour with world-renowned golf legends, but also has raised more than $11 million for more than 45 different charities over the last 11 years, far surpassing other tour events throughout history. The record-high fundraising continues to impact Orange County residents' quality of life in important, measurable ways. The primary beneficiary of the tournament, Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian is a nationally acclaimed hospital that brings world-class healthcare to the community and is recognized for its outstanding patient satisfaction and clinical excellence by consumers and regulatory agencies. Important funding from the Toshiba Classic enables Hoag Hospital to continue expanding its services to residents of Orange County. Since opening its doors in 1952, Hoag Hospital has continued an astounding rate of growth from a 70-bed community hospital to a 498-bed hospital with the same patient-centered and community focus. Thanks in large part to funds raised by Toshiba Classic sponsors, Hoag Hospital has been able to move forward with capital projects such as expanding two of its five Centers of Excellence-Hoag Heart and Vascular Institute and Hoag Neurosciences Center. Hoag Hospital has always played an active part in providing direction and vision for the future of the community's healthcare. Part of the vision is to continue expansion of service options throughout Orange County. Seven Hoag Health Centers are located throughout the community to better serve all areas of Orange County. Hoag Health Center-Newport Beach will open in early 2009 with an imaging center, a CHOC subspecialty clinic, pediatric urgent care and the Mary & Dick Allen Diabetes Center among other first-class medical services. These community services and programs were made a reality thanks to the generous support of Toshiba Classic sponsors. Under Hoag management for the past ten years, more than 900 volunteers also help the Toshiba Classic operate so efficiently. As part of Toshiba's commitment to the community, the Toshiba Classic Scholarship Fund was expanded in 2008 to award two local high school seniors $10,000 and a Toshiba laptop to assist with their future education. Over the course of the 9 years, the Scholarship Fund has provided grants totaling more than $169,000 and 98 Toshiba laptops to local high school seniors. In addition, the annual "Shot from the Top" presented by Toshiba provides Orange County high schools with more than $150,000
worth of Toshiba laptop computers each year. Fifteen local high school golf teams have competed in this two-part golf competition
culminating with a closest-tothe-pin contest from the top of the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa during tournament
week. |
